Curriculum Summary
The Altoona Academy of Tae Kwon-Do is a traditional martial arts school instructing men,
women, and children ages five and up. Classes consist of training in basic techniques, forms,
self-defense and sparring. This regimen is combined with modern concepts of aerobic conditioning
and flexibility exercises to offer a comprehensive, systematic approach to training. Our objective is
to provide a program which helps release stress, build total body fitness, teach practical protection,
and have fun along the way.

With 9 Master Instructors and 10+ certified Black Belts Instructors available, each class is staffed by
qualified men and women who exhibit excellence in techniques and teaching ability.

The Academy is much like a family where each member provides strength and support for the
common good. Within our school, respect and positive attitude form the foundation needed to
ensure that all students strive for their personal best
.

Safety First
Tae Kwon-Do is one of the safest systems of martial arts; however, athletes in any sport are robbed
of their ability to participate if they are injured. For this reason safety is stressed. Students must wear
safety gear when sparring. They must also follow the rules of the Do-Jang.

A Note From Master Bender, chief instructor
Altoona Academy of Tae Kwon-Do is family owned and operated. We believe strongly in the value
of close family ties and take our responsibility toward our students in our program very seriously.
Techniques in self-defense are blended with lessons in integrity, respect, and fair play. Students are
encouraged to maintain excellence in every area of their lives from school work to behavior at
home and conduct in public. It is our goal for children and adults in our program to gain an
improved self-esteem and a strong sense of values, giving them the ability to make the right choices
when faced with the temptations of our times.
